8th grade Living Environment

Biology.pngThe 8th grade students will be exploring the topics found in the living environment course.  This is a high school course which will allow the students to sit for the Living Environment regents.  Upon passing the regents in June, the students will enter high school with 1 regents credit.
The students have received a textbook which is aligned with the NYS regents course.  They will be required to read the chapters, as assigned, before the lesson is taught in the classroom.  Periodically homework will be assigned from the textbook as chapter reviews and reading comprehension. These textbooks should remain at home.
All students should have also received a workbook from the district.  These books should also remain at home.  Required pages should be removed from the workbook and placed in the class binder.
Notes should be taken in  the 3 ring binder.  Power points, worksheet pages, and handouts should be added to the the binder.  Organization is key to being prepared for the subject.  Power points should be viewed periodically.
Students will also be required to complete 15 lab activities.  A lab report will be assigned for each activity and will be graded on a rubric of 10.  If a student is absent for a lab, the lab must be made up at a time convenient for the student and me.
