Librarian and AIS
Where are you from?
My name is Mrs. Laura Archbold. I grew up on Long Island. I graduated from Saint Philip Neri School. I currently live in Huntington with my husband and our dog, Rudy. We have four grown children and two grandchildren.
What is your education?
I have attended Catholic schools from first grade through College. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Manhattan College and my Master's Degree in Education from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. I hold a New York State Professional Teacher Certification.
How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching for twelve years. I previously taught at Trinity Regional School(2008-2016) in grades 5 and 6 and as Academic Intervention teacher.
Prior to rejoining Trinity, I worked at Maria Regina School in Seaford (2017-2021) as a Math Specialist and Grade 4 teacher. I am looking forward to my position as the School Librarian where I will have the opportunity to teach all the students at Trinity.
In Library class I want to instill a love of reading and make the learning authentic and challenging. Reading, project-based learning, technology and communicating are the staples of our class. I believe encouraging reading and thinking fosters students to grow into lifelong learners. After all, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you’ll go,” — quoting Dr. Seuss
Who is your favorite saint?
My favorite saint is Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She is a modern day saint who dedicated her life to serving others, especially the poor. Mother Teresa's work and her inspiring words remind us that “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
At Trinity Regional School , we learn how God is ever present in our lives. I love that all our whole community serves God by serving others- in school, at home and in our community. We have much to be thankful for so we will remember to thank God and serve others in small but important ways.
What is your favorite book?
I love so many books but if I had to pick one it would be The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
Favorite Scripture Verse:
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
My primary goal as an educator is to tap into the creativity of the 21st century learner in an environment which fosters independence and critical thinking skills. In our library classroom, students will develop skills in reading, writing, and research. Upper grades will learn how to effectively locate, evaluate and use information. Students are welcome to use the Library and its resources for all of their classes. And, of course we have a great selection of books for personal reading which can be checked out.
Please be sure to regularly visit the Library Google Classroom. Here, I will put announcements and classwork.
I am always available to answer your questions or concerns.
