6th and 7th Grade Science Teacher
Where are you from?
My name is Mrs. Laura Archbold. I grew up on Long Island. I graduated from Saint Philip Neri School. I currently live in Huntington with my husband and our dog, Rudy. We have four grown children and two grandchildren.
What is your education?
I have attended Catholic schools from first grade through College. I received my Bachelor's Degree from Manhattan College and my Master's Degree in Education from Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tennessee. I hold a New York State Professional Teacher Certification.
How long have you been teaching?
I have been teaching for thirteen years. I previously taught at Trinity Regional School(2008-2016) in grades 5 and 6 and as Academic Intervention teacher.
Prior to rejoining Trinity, I worked at Maria Regina School in Seaford (2017-2021) as a Math Specialist and Grade 4 teacher. I am looking forward to my position as the 6th and 7th grade science teacher.
In Science, I want to instill a passion for science by exploring and understanding of the natural world. I want to inspire curiosity and critical thinking through hands-on experiments, collaborative projects, and real-world applications.
Who is your favorite saint?
My favorite saint is Saint Mother Teresa of Calcutta. She is a modern day saint who dedicated her life to serving others, especially the poor. Mother Teresa's work and her inspiring words remind us that “Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love.”
At Trinity Regional School , we learn how God is ever present in our lives. I love that our whole community serves God by serving others- in school, at home and in our community. We have much to be thankful for so we will remember to thank God and serve others in small but important ways.
What is your favorite book?
I love so many books but if I had to pick one it would be The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
Favorite Scripture Verse:
I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13
My primary goal as an educator is to tap into the creativity of the 21st century learner in an environment, which fosters solving problems. In our Science classroom, we want our students' curiosity to drive their learning about Science and the natural world. Students will have the opportunity to practice skills used by scientists and engineers. By asking questions, using math and computational thinking, developing and using models, and analyzing data, students gain valuable skills. It allows our students to become critical thinkers, effective communicators, and lifelong learners.
